Privacy Policy: Your Data and the NZ Privacy Act 2020

How Juniper Collective collects, uses and protects your personal information, in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Last updated 20 August 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how Juniper Collective ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores and protects your personal information when you use junipercollective.co.nz. We handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles.

1. Who we are

Juniper Collective is an independent New Zealand information and comparison website about online gambling. We are the agency responsible for the personal information collected through this site. You can reach us at hello@junipercollective.co.nz.

2. What we collect

We keep data collection to the minimum we need to run the site:

  • Analytics data. When you visit, our analytics tools collect technical information such as your approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, the pages you view, and how you arrived. This is largely aggregated and is used to understand how the site is used.
  • Contact form data. If you email us or use our contact form, we collect the name, email address, subject and message you provide so we can respond to your enquiry.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. See our cookie policy for full detail on what we set and why.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we do not collect payment details — we operate no gambling service and take no deposits.

3. Why we collect it (purpose and lawful basis)

Under the Privacy Act 2020 we only collect personal information for a lawful purpose connected with our activities. We use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiries and provide the information you ask for;
  • measure and improve how the site performs and which content is useful;
  • keep the site secure and prevent misuse or fraud;
  • meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.

4. Cookies

We use essential, analytics and affiliate-tracking cookies. You can control or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Full details are in our cookie policy.

5. Third parties we share data with

We share limited information only with service providers who help us run the site, and only for that purpose. These include our analytics provider, our web hosting provider, and affiliate-tracking partners who record when a visit or sign-up is referred from our links. When you click a link to a third-party operator, you leave our site and that operator collects and handles your information under its own privacy policy, which we do not control. We may also disclose information if required by New Zealand law.

6. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected. Contact-form correspondence is typically kept for up to 24 months in case of follow-up, then deleted. Analytics data is retained in line with our analytics provider's settings, generally no longer than 26 months. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

7. How we protect your information

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards — including SSL encryption of the site and access controls — to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take these obligations seriously.

8. Your rights under the Privacy Act 2020

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Request correction of information that is wrong or out of date;
  • Ask us to delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep;
  • Withdraw consent to non-essential cookies at any time; and
  • Complain if you think we have mishandled your information.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@junipercollective.co.nz. We will respond as soon as we can, and within 20 working days as required by the Act.

9. Complaints and the Privacy Commissioner

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information or a privacy request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner: phone 0800 803 909, email enquiries@privacy.org.nz, or visit privacy.org.nz.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The version shown here, with its "last updated" date, is always the current one.
